Accessibility Statement
Effective Date: June 24, 2026
Oakland Hills Tennis Club, Inc. ("OHTC," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to ensuring that people with disabilities can access our club facilities, programs, and services. As a private club that welcomes members and guests to our physical location at 5475 Redwood Rd, Oakland, CA, we strive to provide equal opportunity to participate in tennis, pickleball, aquatics, fitness, and social activities.
1. Applicable Laws
Federal and California law prohibit discrimination against people with disabilities in places of public accommodation. These laws include the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title III, the California Unruh Civil Rights Act, and provisions of the California Building Standards Code relating to accessible design. While no law requires a specific format for this statement, we publish it to describe our commitment and how you can request assistance or report barriers.
2. Physical Accessibility at Our Club
Our hillside campus includes tennis courts, pickleball courts, a swimming pool, a fitness center, locker rooms, and common areas. We work to remove architectural and communication barriers where readily achievable and to provide reasonable modifications so that individuals with disabilities can use our facilities and programs.
Depending on your needs, we may be able to assist with:
- Accessible parking and routes to club buildings and common areas
- Access to the fitness center, pool deck, and other member areas where feasible
- Program accommodations, such as adaptive instruction or modified activities
- Effective communication, including assistance understanding club information
- Alternative ways to access goods or services when a physical barrier cannot immediately be removed
Some areas of a sports and recreation facility—such as certain court surfaces, pool entry points, or steep outdoor paths—may present inherent accessibility challenges due to the nature of the site and activities offered. If you are planning a visit, please contact us in advance so we can discuss your needs and the options available for your visit.
3. Service Animals
Only service animals are permitted at Oakland Hills Tennis Club. A service animal is a dog (and in some cases a miniature horse) individually trained to perform work or tasks for a person with a disability, as defined by the ADA and California law. Service animals are welcome in areas of the club where members and guests are allowed.
Pets, emotional support animals, comfort animals, and other support animals are not permitted on club property, even if prescribed or documented by a healthcare provider. These animals do not qualify as service animals under applicable law and are not allowed at OHTC.
4. Website Accessibility
We aim to make our website at oaklandhills.com accessible to visitors with disabilities. We work toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA where practicable. Our site includes features such as semantic structure, keyboard navigation support, and visible focus indicators. If you encounter difficulty using any part of our website, please let us know using the contact information below.

6. Ongoing Improvements
Accessibility is an ongoing effort. We periodically review our facilities, programs, and digital properties and make improvements as resources and opportunities allow. We appreciate your patience as we continue to enhance access for all members and guests.
